The Golf Club at Lansdowne is proud to announce its support and relationship with the nationally-known golf program, The First Tee ®. Research has shown the primary reason more children do not play golf is because of the lack of places that welcome them. In 1997, the World Golf Foundation created The First Tee® as a way to bring golf to young people that otherwise would not be exposed to the game and its positive values. The First Tee’s mission is to provide young people educational golf programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
On May 22, The Golf Club at Lansdowne, managed by Troon Golf, hosted Loudoun County’s Fourth Annual First Tee tournament with 78 members and guests participating in a “Scramble” format on the Robert Trent Jones II course. “This year we raised $6,280 which will bring The First Tee® program to two additional schools in LoudounCounty. In just four years this program went from being non-existent, to an active program showing and teaching school kids in 20 LoudounCounty elementary schools the great game of golf,” says Stephen Tucker, President of the Men’s Golf Association, which sponsored the event.
“The First Tee® is doing some very valuable things in LoudonCounty by building a foundation of life skills with our children through the game of golf and its core principles,” says Ryan Wilson, Director of Golf Operations at the Golf Club at Lansdowne. In addition, Ryan said, “We are pleased with our partnership with The First Tee® and will look to grow our sponsorship in future years.”
The Golf Club at Lansdowne has over 400 members and provides 45-holes of championship golf, along with a five-pool complex, fitness center, driving range and practice field, plus five restaurants and golf pro shop.
