Inova Fairfax Hospital earns “Gold Seal of Approval”

Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church has earned The Joint Commission’s “Gold Seal of Approval” for Prematurity (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) by demonstrating compliance with the commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in premature birth care. Inova Fairfax Hospital had more than 20,000 births in 2010. The certification recognizes the hospital’s dedication to continuous compliance with the commission’s state-of-the-art standards.

“This Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval validates that the care premature babies receive in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit not only consistently meets but exceeds the national standards leading to the best care possible,” said Reuven Pasternak, chief executive officer of Inova Fairfax Hospital and senior vice president of Inova Health System.

The program launched in 2002 and is designed to evaluate clinical programs across the continuum of care. For more information, visit jointcommission.org.
