The hands that pottery – and touchdowns – built
Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley auctioned off his handy work at his inaugural art show June 5 at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner. After Cooley suffered an ankle injury during the 2009 football season, the former art major returned to painting and pottery. He told the crowd that he frequently gifts his teammates, family and friends with his creations. More than 250 pottery pieces and 20 paintings were on display and quarterback Colt Brennan, tight end Lee Vickers and running back Clinton Portis lent a helping hand. Since 2008, Cooley's Education Fund has provided college scholarships to low-income high school seniors in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Cooley donates ten, $25,000 scholarships to underprivileged children annually.
