Loudoun Free Clinic Recieves $100,000
The Loudoun Free Clinic recently received $100,000 toward its operations from Inova Loudoun Hospital. The Loudoun Free Clinic in Leesburg opened in 2002. The clinic delivers quality medical care at no charge, serving uninsured residents of Loudoun between the ages of 18 and 64. The clinic is located within Inova Loudoun Hospital's Cornwall campus in downtown Leesburg. The recent financial contribution is in addition to the space, utilities and maintenance costs the hospital provides the clinic. “More than 11 percent of the Loudoun population is uninsured,” said Loudoun Free Clinic Board Chair Erin Smith, “and the Free Clinic's Board and staff are committed to serving the healthcare needs of residents who otherwise might go without medical attention due to costs.” Smith said patient volumes had nearly doubled from 2009 to 2010. In the first six months of this year, the clinic has treated more than 2,400 patient visits. For more information, visit http://www.loudounfreeclinic.org
