Local companies get greened
Sterling-based Neustar was certified as a green business at the 2010 Loudoun Green Gala last month. AOL, Verizon, Inova Health Systems and Staples Inc. were also recognized. The gala recognized winners of the 2010 Loudoun Green Business Challenge, a partnership between the county government and the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce to encourage local businesses to adopt environmentally sound practices. The certification was based on a points system that included more than 40 measurable steps businesses and organizations can take to become more energy efficient, implement more sustainable practices, and improve their bottom line.
