Dulles Greenway to give “green”
|
The Dulles Greenway is hosting its 5th annual "Drive for Charity" event May 20. At a rally for the event May 13, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chairman Scott York (I-at large) joked that he hopes to spread rumors of a traffic jam on Route 7 that day in an effort to drive cars into using the toll road. Last year, 64,000 cars paid into the fundraiser. Supervisor Kelly Burk (D-Leesburg) was also in attendance at the rally.
The Dulles Greenway hopes to collect $235,000, which would bring the total proceeds to $1 million during the past five years. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit five Loudoun charities: Every Citizen Has Opportunities, Fresh Air/Full Care, March of Dimes, Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter, Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and the Dulles Greenway Scholarship.
