Chamber of Commerce honors 2010 Valor Award winners
Several from Loudoun’s business community gathered at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne April 13 to honor the county’s everyday heroes at the 25th Valor Awards hosted by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. The awards honor first responders who made life-saving rescues throughout the previous year, as well as everyday citizens who committed acts of heroism. Some of the incidents that people were honored for include the July 10, 2009, crime spree in Leesburg, which included a botched armed robbery and two hostage situations, a citizen rescue of a young woman who ran off a road into a lake in Ashburn in November 2009, the rescue of a 17-year-old from a burning building, and the rescue of a Loudoun County Adult Detention Center inmate who tried to commit suicide by hanging himself.
